Has this ever happened to you?

You’re  in the lumber store and run across a beautiful plank of _ _ _ _ (you fill in the blank) It has a funny name that you have never heard before but the grain, color, texture and smell , it’s true, we do smell wood as part of the identification process, has you intrigued. The wheels start turning with visions of a fine jewelry box or keepsake box that you know is just beneath the surface of this awesome find.  SOLD

So, it’s paid for and you are on your way home with your new found treasure. Your dreams soon turn to questions. What type of glue will work with this wood?  Will my trusty old yellow glue hold? Is there any special steps needed to prepare the wood?  A few calls to your woodworking buddies and a number of searches on your favorite woodworking forums, ends with more questions than answers.

I was doing some online research, gluing Cocobolo,  and ran across The Wood Data Base by Eric Meier.     http://www.wood-database.com/

Eric’s site is easy  to navigate and in short order I found the information on Cocolobo that I was looking for.  I could write several paragraphs on his site and what I like about it and how easy it is to use but I think it’s best for you to witness it for yourself.

The following paragraph is quoted directly from The Wood Data Base and this is what truly sets it apart from the other wood data bases on the internet.
